74% of Businesses Expect Drastic Organizational Change

74% of businesses expect drastic organizational change, necessitating ERP system changes in 2007

Sliedrecht, The Netherlands – April 17, 2007 – Agresso, the ERP Market’s Definition of Agility, today released results from a study which surveyed IT and Business managers from various sectors, and concluded that 64 percent have gone through significant business changes in 2006. The respondents, a diverse mix from the commercial, higher education, non-profit and the public sectors, believe constant business change, due to rapid growth, new business models and changing legislations have become a reality. The biggest challenge for IT managers will be to adjust their ERP system to accommodate these business changes.

This is evident in the responses from the surveyed managers where they report that the main drivers for change were reorganisation or restructuring (61 percent), a change of business model (44 percent) and mergers and acquisitions (30 percent). The majority of the respondents expect that the amount of changes will only increase in the future. For 2007, 74 percent of the respondents expect significant change, while 84 percent expect an increased pressure to change in the coming years.

Coping with altering business circumstances can be very difficult and highly expensive. To manage it is imperative that organizations have an ERP system that can accommodate evolution in business scenarios with internal staff – thereby being able to change their enterprise system in hours, days or weeks – instead of months or years. Results from the survey released today highlight that 69 percent of Agresso customers have been able to adapt their ERP system to the changing business conditions mentioned above without having to call in external consultants. Especially customers in the higher education sector (80 percent) and commercial sector (73 percent) stated that they managed the system changes completely independently.

“It has always been Agresso’s mission to give our customers complete autonomy by promoting rapid business growth via post-implementation agility and reduction of overhead costs”, says Ton Dobbe, VP Product Marketing at Agresso. “An earlier Agresso survey conducted by TEC shows that ERP users feel trapped in a never-ending ERP spending cycle. It is great to see proof that our customers do not suffer from this dependence on outside parties for dealing with business change.”

Dobbe continues, “Our customers rely on our architectural difference. The Agresso architecture is the only one in the market that tightly couples data, business process and the delivery methodology – the reporting and analytics – to move in lockstep. This means that when a change is made in one area, it does not have to be redone and rechecked for accuracy in the other two places. This saves time, money and people resources and brings about true business agility.”
