CTO Skips Microsoft, Oracle Back-End Options to Gain Agility, Savings; Agresso Subscription Services Gaining Favor with City Governments VICTORIA, B.C. (Jan. 30, 2008) – Agresso, (www.agresso.com/USA), the ERP market’s definition of agility, has won a five-year software subscription license with the City of West Linn, Ore., for a full suite of operational software solutions. The agreement, valued at $690K, provides the West Linn government with a software delivery model (often called “on-demand” in technology circles), that saves deployment costs over standard ERP solutions. “We were seeking both operational agility, the ability to support new functional needs and a payment solution that worked with our budgets,” said Steve Arndt, Chief Technology Officer for the City of West Linn. “Agresso not only met our requirements, but provided a solution model that no other company wanted to do for us when we solicited bids. With the expense we were incurring to make ongoing changes to our former solution, we could never get ahead and the functionality was still lagging.” Asked if he considered contracts with any of the giant ERP providers, Arndt said he received an initial proposal from Microsoft Dynamics and another from an Oracle back-end support solution. “Microsoft’s proposed solution fell short both on functionally and from a web-deployment perspective,” Arndt said. “And as for Oracle, I considered that thought for all of five minutes. I’ve been down that road with Oracle before and know that they are a massive undertaking that usually costs a lot more than you planned.” Agresso provides a cost-effective solution for achieving post-implementation agility via the company’s “VITA” architecture. The architecture allows municipal governments like West Linn to continuously change underlying data, operational processes and/or reporting requirements at a minimum level of cost and business disruption.
