Day 1

Overview of Reporting Tools

We will review what reporting tools that are available in CentralCommand. The overview will include Inquiry Tools both simple and advanced, Browser, Analyzer and Excelerator.

Discussion of Reporting Requirements versus Tools

We will review what tools to use when to generate a report based on business needs.

Database Tables

We will review the data structure in order to be more familiar with where the data is stored in the database.

Introduction to Browser

This session will cover an Overview of the Browser Tool.

Day 2

Advanced Browser

  • Output can be formatted with color, fonts, shading, page breaks, etc.
  • Browser expands and simplifies the ‘drill around’ capability,
  • Allows the user to ‘expand the base’ of the inquiry. This means that they can join the results to other data table defined to the data model (see below).
  •  Use of ‘macros’ in criteria: today’s date; yesterday’s date; tomorrow’s date; current  period, previous period; company period; opening period; user ID logged on.
  • Results can be saved in a variety of formats, such as Excel .xls files, text files, bit maps, etc.
  • Conditional formatting of Browser results gives ‘traffic lighting’ for easier identification of exceptions
  • Template enquiries can be saved for repeated use.
  • Browser is ideal for ad hoc data investigation and regular Windows-based reporting/enquiry
  • Alternatively, (or in addition to templates) the user can select selection criteria, subtotalling, headings, and which data is required to be displayed.
  • Ability to slice, access and inquire on data from any aspect or perspective, depending on the question that is being asked at the time using sort and search criteria.
  • Relations may be attached for summarizing data.
  • The results of balance table enquiries can be summarised at any level.
  • Output either as screen inquiries with full drill down, printed reports, or transferred very simply to spreadsheets

Analyzer

Provides the ability to present standard Windows enquiries and balance table results in alternative formats:

  • Cross-tab or matrix format
  • Tree structure which may be expanded and collapsed
  • Pie/bar chart with drill down.
  • Advanced selection/sort criteria etc.

Day 3

Introduction to Excelerator

Excelerator

Excelerator provides direct integration from AGRESSO into Microsoft Excel, both from Browser, on the Smart client, and from standard AGRESSO reports. This allows the user to take advantage of all the intrinsic power of Microsoft Excel to re-format or perform further analysis of the data from AGRESSO.

  • As well as producing the classic sub-totalled report like AGRESSO Report Creator or Browser, Excelerator allows the user to specify the much more ad hoc reports that are often required in real-world applications.
  • Ideal for month end ‘management report packs’, project reports, statutory accounts, cash flows forecasts etc.
  • Uses the AGRESSO database connectivity so no additional database middleware setup is required.
  • Provides integration from AGRESSO Browser to MS Word.
  • Automatic generation of a default Excelerator report from Browser.

Day 4

Review of Browser setup, search & results tabs
