June xx - Stockton Riverside College (www.stockton.ac.uk/) has completed an unbelievable turnaround with the deployment of a student management system in just 27 days, just as its previous system was running out of steam. Like all colleges and training organisations funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), Stockton Riverside College has to meet specific requirements for managing fund allocation. Being offline would create major headaches for administrators who need to stay in complete control of matching funds to students and to specific courses. The college struck a deal with ERP software company Agresso (www.agresso.com/uk). Agresso’s QL Students software is designed to meet this requirement but the company was under pressure to get the software up and running and staff trained extremely quickly to ensure there was no downtime for management data. “Stockton Riverside College chose the Agresso Student Records System because we believe it is capable of delivering what we need and easily dovetails with our existing IT,” said Phil Hastie, Assistant Principal, Planning and Performance, at Stockton Riverside College. “We are confident that the new student records system with its integration and user friendliness, will allow us to make better use of our information to the benefit of our students and staff.” “This looked like mission impossible,” said Nick Gibson, education sector manager at Agresso, “but we managed to go from a planning meeting to going live in just 27 days. The rapid deployment is a testament to the quality of our technical team and the open ability of the software, enabling it to be bolted onto existing IT systems, quickly and easily. Colleges in both the further and higher education sectors have specific demands for managing their organisations so there is an element of tailoring to meet individual needs. However, the software is agile and simple to change post-installation so most of the tweaking can be done in-house. This suits most colleges as it means they do not have to continuously call out specialist engineers.” About Agresso Agresso is a $480 million enterprise resource planning (ERP) company, listed in the Netherlands as Unit 4 Agresso (Dutch Stock Exchange EURONEXT-U4AGR) and one of the top five providers of ERP solutions for professional services and public sector organizations.
