Agresso seals college management deal

The deal, worth £117,000, is Agresso’s sixth win with UK colleges in the past five weeks.

UCF, which recently merged with Dartington College of Art, has decided to replace its incumbent Finance application from CedarOpenAccounts, citing a need for greater flexibility and easy reporting.

“Higher Education is a fast changing environment these days and we were therefore in need of tools that could move with the times,” said Rob Holmes, Deputy Director of Finance, UCF. “As a key part of the merger we needed to integrate the main finance systems.  Our evaluation highlighted the fact that staff at Dartington were already used to using the enhanced features available through Agresso.  The profile within the HE sector, strength of the user group and number of customers on similar platforms for their major information systems meant that the move to Agresso offered the best all round solution.”

In purchasing the Agresso Business World software modules, UCF used Agresso’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)* to get a better deal, therefore saving on initial capital outlay as well as on-going cost of ownership.

“Colleges in both the Further and Higher Education sectors are increasingly demanding flexibility in their software to cope with on-going growth and changes in legislation and reporting requirements,” said Nick Gibson, Director of the Education Divisoin at Agresso. “We recognised this need early and made our software agile so that it can be moulded to suit a college’s specific needs after Go-Live as well as during implementation.. Software agility is essential for the Education sector as it is for most other sectors faced with the prospect of change and tighter budgets.”

* Note: The Agresso MoU is a Memorandum of Understanding agreed between Agresso Ltd and the UK Government signed by the Office of Government Commerce. The MOU is Agresso’s commitment to delivering greater value to the UK public sector through agreed preferential pricing for applications, support and services (including shared services)
