Agresso UK, today announced that Herefordshire College of Technology has extended its contract with Agresso under the Memorandum of Understanding, to upgrade its software to the latest version, while reducing its administrative and support costs. The Agresso Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was established in November 2006, in partnership with OGCbuying.solutions, the trading arm of the Office of Government Commerce. The aim is to deliver public sector savings of £12 million over three years through a restructured pricing model offering unrestricted user site licences for Agresso software and reduced support and maintenance fees. Herefordshire has upgraded to version 4.0 of Agresso’s QL Finance, Student and Personnel software, which is a significant enhancement to the systems it was previously operating, whilst at the same time reducing spend. “We were very keen to upgrade our systems, having used this software for many years, but we were concerned about the increase in support costs that would usually accompany such an upgrade, particularly as we have extended the number of site licences we use,” said Edward Rehm, Director of Finance at Herefordshire College of Technology. “Under the MoU, we get all the benefits of the latest technology whilst reducing monthly costs – an attractive proposition for any accountant. It also made contract negotiations easy as we knew we were getting a good deal through arrangements already negotiated by the OGC.” The idea behind the MoU agreement is to ensure that the savings delivered go towards supporting the public sector in its continued drive towards meeting efficiency review targets and allow much needed resources to be reinvested into front-line public services, where they will produce visible benefits for the taxpayer. The agreement covers central government, local government, health, education, criminal justice organisations and emergency services. It also includes the voluntary sector and organisations providing services on behalf of the public sector, such as transportation and utility companies.
