HFMA Annual Conference 2008
3 December, 2008 - 5 December, 2008
Hilton Metropole, London

As you know the annual conference is the most important event in the Association’s calendar and arguably in NHS finance.  This year’s programme takes its title from the Chairman’s theme, “Influence. Connect. Engage.” Over the three days, it will focus on three specific areas and include a variety of plenary and sub-plenary sessions as well as a comprehensive exhibition.

For the first time, we will start on Wednesday morning with a session specifically aimed at students who are attending the conference. This will be followed in the afternoon by the Fringe session - your opportunity to debate, discuss and ask questions on the key issues around clinical engagement in a relaxed and informal setting.  A panel of eminent and experienced speakers will debate the essential issues and provide their views on the effectiveness of joint working between clinicians and finance professionals. Make sure you take this excellent opportunity to come and have your say.

On the second day we will be focusing on current and future developments within the NHS.  We will be joined by a range of eminent speakers. Those invited include Ben Bradshaw MP, Lord Darzi, Professor Christine Beasley, Dr Fiona Adshead, Bill Moyes and David Flory. There will be ample opportunity for lively debate and discussion and you will be encouraged to share your views and deepen your understanding of the challenges ahead.

The final day brings it all together and focuses on developing your own leadership and influencing skills in order to make the most of your potential.  You will hear from the extremely successful entrepreneur and business woman, Michelle Mone and the highly regarded and well known publisher, editor, writer, broadcaster, public speaker and business consultant, Andrew Neil. We are also delighted to announce that Professor Lord Robert Winston has agreed to join us to provide the closing address.

As well as being an excellent professional development event, the conference offers great value for money and also provides a valuable opportunity to network.
